LASIK can only correct a patient's eyesight so much, and if your prescription is stronger than the following limits, you may not experience optimal results: -11 diopters of nearsightedness, +5 diopters of farsightedness, and 5 diopters for astigmatism. Your prescription should be stable for at least two years before undergoing LASIK, because if your vision is constantly changing, the procedure will not be as effective. Lastly, a physician will check your cornea to ensure it has the proper thickness to safely make a corneal flap incision.
